Engineering Curriculum

Première année
1st year : the core curriculum
  • 250 students in the first year
  • Achievement of L3 (final year BSc equivalent) at the same time from the University of Cergy Pontoise
  • One custom-made semester according to where the student comes from (school/studies etc)
  • Projects – to apply and practice the students’ skills

The engineering students deepen their knowledge in Mathematics and Electronics. They acquire new skills in Information Technology, Human Relations and Business Management. At the end of the first year, the students choose the specialty for the second year – the IT track (GI) or the Mathematics track (GM). These specialties don’t necessitate any distinct new enrollment procedures but an ‘internal evaluation’ – the ranking of the students in terms of their school year in the subjects concerned; validation at the ‘conseil de classe’ (student-specific evaluation regarding the passing or failing of a student at the end of a semester/year) – if all these criteria are met, the students can then move on to the specialty of their choice, either GI or GM.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT 75,5H

2nd year specialties

  • IT track (GI) – 450 hours over the year
  • Mathematics track (GM) – 450 hours over the year

Double Degree at the University of Cergy-Pontoise

In Cergy as in Pau, graduating from the 1st to the 2nd year of engineering studies will ensure that students obtain the L3 in Mathematics and IT from the University of Cergy-Pontoise (giving them the equivalent of a BSc double degree).

Special 1st year ‘accord’ with Paris Dauphine
Originally, some of our third year students following the special option ‘IFI’ (Financial Engineering) could sign up to do the Actuaries Masters or MASEF degrees at Paris Dauphine. This special agreement is being extended: six first year students from the EISTI can now sign up to study MMD (Mathematics of Modeling and Decision-Making) at Paris Dauphine.

Deuxième année
2nd year: the specialtie
  • Choice of 2 specialties: GI (IT track) or GM (Mathematics track)
  • 20 week internship
  • Parallel Masters at Paris Dauphine

The engineering students perfect their mastery of tools and information treatment methods. They discover new technologies and methods of management. They finalise their ‘savoir-faire’ (know-how) in project management. Aside from the hours set aside for language studies, human relations and business management that all students study together, 90% of the classes are specific to the students’ choice of specialty, preparing them for their final choice of Option in the 3rd year.
In the first semester (of the 2nd year), the students follow, on top of the classes common to everyone, their specialty’s fundamental basic classes. In the 2nd semester, as well as more intensive classes of their specialty, the students will follow classes related to their choice of ‘Option’ in 3rd year. At the end of the 2nd year, the students go on a 20-week long business internship in analysis/programming.

Troisième année
3rd year: the option
  • 12 Options to choose from
  • 22-week business internships
  • Teaching by professionals through business chairs
  • Various parallel masters and double degrees available

The students choose an Option of 780 hours: 400 hours of class-time, 180 hours specific to the orientation/option, and 200 hours of end-of-studies project. Each Option uses small-group work, tutorial classes (travaux dirigés/TD) and specific practical work. A project-led business internship brings the year to a close. The students are put in a professional situation and acquire significant responsibility.

  • Period: from April
  • Subject: related to the students’ end-of-studies projects

MINIMUM SCORE OF 750 ON THE TOEIC

Graduation only takes place if the student has obtained at least 750/990 on the TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication).

FRENCH AND INTERNATIONAL DOUBLE DEGREES

In parallel, students can prepare for a Masters of Research degree in France or a Master of Science abroad.
